FOTD #1 with Bourjois Little Round Pot Intense Eyeshadows

Hello my Funky Readers,

Not long ago I posted a review of the three Bourjois Little Round Pot Intense Eyeshadows, and there I briefly showed you some makeup looks using those eyeshadows. Today I have a more detailed post about one of those looks.

Here I've used Round Pots # 5 and 8, and since it was my first time using these eyeshadows, I wasn't sure about the best way to apply them. So, in my 'bright' moment I've decided to use UD Eden as a primer. BIG mistake! These eyeshadows are pretty dry to begin with, and somewhat not user-friendly, so with addition of UD Eden I had a hard time applying them. But at the end, all was well and I managed to make them work. Thankfully I don't like to blend my eyeshadows, otherwise I doubt I would have gotten a good result with them. So take it from me, do NOT use it with UD Eden, or any other primers for matte eyeshadows, and instead use regular UDPP. And also don't ask me why I used Eden to begin with... I honestly can't remember.

I have to tell you a secret, I'm trying to use up with e.l.f Luscious Liquid Lipstick, so I can include it in my December empties post. I'm so close!!! So I'm trying to use it anytime I remember. Again, this is the same Cherry (I believe) shade, different from the one I reviewed, but still pretty similar in color.

What do you think about Bourjois eyeshadows? Have I convinced you to try a similar look yet? :P :P

My Favorite Lipstick for Fall: L'Oreal Project Runway Charming Cockatoo's Pout

Hello Everyone,

I have to admit that I'm not much into lipsticks. Sure, I own them, but I rarely use any, instead preferring to use some lipbalm. But I am also a firm believer that one day a lipstick will come your way that will take your breath away. This happened to me a few weeks ago, and the lipstick in question is  L'Oreal Project Runway Charming Cockatoo's Pout.

As anyone who reads my blog regularly knows, I"m an American living in UK, meaning that I have access to some US brands. What it usually means in reality though, is that our store carries some brands from US from their permanent collection, the stock is always low and we rarely get any LE collections. Now, imagine my surprise when I walk in to see a whole display dedicated to L'Oreal's new limited edition collection inspired by Project Runway! Of course I had to get something for myself, and this lipstick caught my eye instantly because lately I've been trying to be more adventurous with my lip color.

(I have to apologize in advance for being a filthy makeup tease, because I realize that this collection might not be available in other countries.)

I am always on lookout for that perfect flapper lip color, because I love flapper style anything, so when I saw the color in the tube I thought it would be perfect. I have to say, it is pretty a little intimidating looking in the tube, but as it turn out it is quite a wearable color.

In reality, it turned out to be more purple looking! Who would have thought?

This is how it applies on the lips, without any pencil or priming. As you can see, it is a gorgeous wine/berry red with some purple tones. In other words, I was in LOVE! For the past few weeks, I wore this color to a wedding, Britain and Ireland Next Top Model Live event, and just any day I felt like it. I think this color is perfect for fall, or for a night out. Here you can see just how wearable it is, and not intimidating at all (ok, maybe still a little): here, here and here.

In fact, one of my friends at the wedding admitted to me (after I've shown her the color in the tube) that she would have probably never bought it on the tube alone, but after seeing it on my lips she was in love too.

The staying power is decent, with lip pencil it lasts me couple of hours, but it doesn't survive eating or Starbucks and I have to reapply. Without eating or drinking, this lipstick lasts much longer on my lips. This is not that big of a deal for me, as long as I actually re-apply! I use a lip blush to apply this lipstick, otherwise it's pretty difficult (for me) to stay inside the lip line, and this lipstick does not forgive any mistakes because they will be visible.

I don't know if this lipstick is still available, couple of days ago I saw it on Ulta's website, but today it is gone. I do believe that it's worth keeping an eye out for, what if some stores still have it?

Would you wear this lipstick if you could get a hold of it?

P.S. I found that the best color lip liner to use with this lipstick is Rimmel Lasting Finish 1000 Kisses Stay On lip contouring pencil in 071 Cherry Kiss.

the Balm Shady Lady Vol 3 Look #6

Hello my Funk Readers,

Here is another look from couple of weeks ago. Come-hither Heather is pretty much my favorite shade, so I can't help but wanting to use it. Open to Offers Olwen is used on the top and bottom lid, and on the bottom/inner corner of the lid I used Safe Bet Annette and blended it in with the green.

What do you think about my hair? About this time I've started to use some hair products and even *GASP* blow drying it! I can see some result, but usually my hair is very easy to take care of and I don't do much with it. I wanted to experiment after I got some samples at the BINTM Live Show, and I'm liking the results. But I need to play some more with all these stuff, so my clueless self can form an opinion.

On the lips I used e.l.f. Luscious Liquid Lipstick, but in a different shade since the one I reviewed had broken on me. They are pretty similar though, this one is Cherry I think.

What do you think? Would you wear this color combo?

the Balm Shady Lady Vol 3 Look #5

Hello Ladies,

This week been a little bit crazy for me. Most of it is the usual, like exams and the last week of class, but today I also had my wisdom teeth removed. I was mildly freaking out before, to the point that preparation took a whole hour, since they were waiting for me to calm down (guess). The assistant looked at me all asking "are you nervous or something? Your heart rate just went up from 80 to 150". I was literally "DUH I told you I was afraid!". But it all went well, I was sedated but I was actually not out of it at all! I was awake the whole time, and while I didn't feel any pain or HEARD anything, I knew what was happening and kept watching doctor's hands from the little "window" that was left from when they covered my eyes.

The operation itself was very quick, but my two top teeth were already out so they didn't have to cut into anything. My one single one just started to come in, but again, if I left it it would have probably grown without any problems. But I figured it's better to have them out just in case. I was texting to my husband the second they took off that finger thing that monitors the heart pressure, and I feel just fine right now. I have more of a mild discomfort than any real pain, and I'm hoping it stays that way! Overall, I had a very good experience, but nonetheless I'm happy it's all over.

Today's look is from couple of weeks ago, and unfortunately I just couldn't succeed in taking any good photos. It is not my usual look, so not surprisingly I'm not that comfortable with it. Just too "tame" for my liking :). Still, I'm much happier with this look than I was with this one, probably because I didn't use the "fugly" light green shade.

What do you think? Would you wear this look? :)

Another FOTD with L'Oreal's Project Runway Charming Cockatoo's Pout

Hello Ladies,

I've been wearing L'Oreal Project Runway Charming Cockatoo's Pout lipstick pretty often lately, and today I have another look for you with it. You can see the first two looks here and here.

I wanted to do something simple with the eyes, so I've used Gosh Long Lasting Eyeliner Pen in Brown with Wet n Wild Mega Liner Liquid Eyeliner in Turquoise as an accent. I've actually did a tutorial on how to get the look, it is pretty easy but makes the eyeliner so much more fun. :)

I am still so in love with this shade of the lipstick. It is gorgeous and so much more wearable than I thought when I first saw it.

I love it so much that I've included it in my 1 Year Blogging Giveaway, so if you like the shade, head over there and enter. :)

Do you have any lipsticks that you just love to wear in the winter?

REVIEW: Bourjois Little Round Pot Intense Eyeshadow 04, 05, & 08

Hello My Funky Readers,

Few weeks ago I won  a ticket to HPM Social event in London, and while there I had a chance to swatch some goodies from Bourjois. What's more, everyone who wanted could also put their name down for trying some of the products. I've requested to try three of their Bourjois Little Round Pot Intense Eyeshadows after having a swatching marathon by their stand.

Until now, I have never actually tried any of Bourjois Little Round Pot eyeshadows, mostly because I dislike buying individual eyeshadows and prefer the palettes. But I still remember, when I first walked in to Boots over two years ago, and saw them, and stayed glued to the stand swatching and swatching. I even bought one of them to send to a friend in the USA, but never bought one for myself. This year Bourjois updated the formula and the packaging, but they still had escaped my notice until couple of weeks ago at the event, and few days ago when they arrived at my doorstep.

the Balm Shady Lady Vol 3 Look #4

Hello Ladies,

After yesterday's "fiasco" eye look, I have a much better one for you today. Of course, this is all based on my opinion, and not everyone will agree with me. One of my friends actually loves the green I've used in yesterday's look, while I hate it. She, on the other hand, doesn't like any blue eye shadows, which I like.

I didn't expect the look to turn out that dark, but I like it nonetheless. I've added light pink on the bottom lid just to be different, and to tie the whole look together. If I can say so myself, those 3 shades work pretty well together. :)

I love the way all these purple shades make my eye color POP! :) I've never realized that my eyes could be THAT green until I started seriously playing with makeup.

What do you think about this color combo?
